Chicago Evaluates Multiple EV Bids

The City of Chicago is evaluating bids for battery electric vehicles ranging from pickups to garbage collection trucks.

Would be suppliers include

Freightliner-chassis medium duty battery electric truck by California's Electric Vehicles International

  • Electric Vehicles International, for step van, medium duty “incomplete,” box and stake trucks;
  • Motiv Power Systems, for heavy incomplete and refuse vehicles;
  • Standard Equipment (Chicago), for box and stake trucks;
  • 'Mile-Max' lithium ion battery pack from TransPower USA now offered on all of the California company's electric vehicles.

    TransPower USA (Transportation Power), for battery-powered refuse and semi-tractor vehicles; and

  • Zero Truck, for light, medium and heavy incomplete electric trucks, and box, stake, aerial service, and refuse trucks.

Awards under RFQ 3859/Specification 98782 (F&F, March 12) are likely to be made this summer.
