Quantum (NASDAQ:QTWW) reports delivery of the first pilot version of its Ford F-150 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle pickup to Florida Power & Light, made in association with Dow Kokam, the PHEV’s lithium ion battery system supplier.
“We have developed a truly innovative, unique and durable solution that provides significant advantages for fleets and utilities looking to substantially reduce their operating costs as well as their carbon footprint,” Quantum CEO Brian Olson said in a release.
The vehicle features Quantum’s F-Drive brand parallel plug-in drive allowing for 35 miles on electricity alone.
Quantum has some $14 million worth of orders for the truck, business development chief Volker Amelung told F&F. Dow Chemical is another key customer.
The vehicle has a drive motor by Remy International.
