UQM Technologies (NYSEAMEX:UQM) reports selection of its PowerPhase Pro 100 electric driveline for the World Kar battery EV in development by California’s KleenSpeed Technologies.
The KleenSpeed World Kar is a concept EV that was shown at a Stanford University Vehicle Concept Showcase event earlier this month. The UQM PowerPhase Pro-powered version is to begin real-world testing in July, UQM says.
“Our past work with UQM on the KleenSpeed EV-X11 racing program showed us that UQM propulsion systems provide the performance and efficiency in a small, lightweight package that we wanted in the World Kar,” KleenSpeed president Tim Collins says in a UQM release.
“We look forward to working with UQM through the testing and development phase of this production-intent KleenSpeed vehicle,” Collins said.
The 100-kilowatt (maximum) PowerPhase Pro 100 is market-ready, UQM says. It is part of the company’s line-up of production-validated, automotive-qualified PowerPhase electric propulsion systems.
KleenSpeed is located in the NASA Ames Research Park at Moffett Field near Mountain View, Calif.

Nice try fellas, but… The REAL WorldKar(TM) is a turbine-powered series hybrid ATV/sport commuter that has a drivetrain proven by a major university to deliver 45+ MPG in GRIDLOCK driving (90+ MPG highway).
Our hyper-efficient gas turbine cleans the air of toxic hydrocarbons emitted by other engines, and the ever-dirty coal power plants that will charge up the global EV fleet. And the low-maintenance disc turbine engine will NEVER need to be melted down – it lasts forever!
Our primary goal is to reclaim atmospheric oxygen that is being depleted by fossil fuel combustion. (Think methanol.)
What more can I say? The under $10K WorldKar kit car is designed to be built by the world, for the world. Check out the WorldKar.com site for updates on prototype builds & tests.
