Additional e6 Sedans to Join 300 Taxis with 18.6 Million Total Miles
China’s BYD says it’s won the tender and will deliver 500 of its e6 pure battery electric police vehicles to the Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau, “signifying that the promotion of BYD new energy vehicles has reached a new height.”
BYD notes that it previously provided 300 e6 electric taxis for service in Shenzhen, and that they have accumulated more than 18.6 million miles – with one car topping 155,000 miles, “equivalent to the mileage of an ordinary private automobile driven over more than ten years.”
Shenzhen also has more than 200 of BYD’s pure battery buses with accumulated mileage of more than 6.2 million miles.
“It is reported that Shenzhen city is planning to add 500 additional BYD e6 pure electric taxis and over 500 BYD pure electric buses to the public transport system,” states a company release.
BYD eTaxis for London Too
BYD adds that an MoU signed in October in England will result in 50 BYD e6 taxi entering service in London beginning in the second quarter of 2013.
BYD offers a “Zero Down Payment, Zero Costs, Zero Emissions” package to bus and taxi fleets, “solving the financial pressure on taxi and public transport companies procuring electric vehicles in one go and realizing ‘zero risk’ for users.”
