Meter Developed with Itron Is Utility-Grade

California-headquartered ClipperCreek is working with Itron on a new electric vehicle charger with better connectivity to both vehicles and utility electricity sources. It’s a “revenue-grade” unit replete with an ANSI-certified, utility-quality meter – a first for the EV industry, says ClipperCreek president Dave Packard.

ClipperCreek claims the first UL-listed EV charging station manufactured in America, and is readying a new product with better connectivity to both vehicles and electricity sources.

The new meter, which from the outside looks just like ClipperCreek’s flagship CS-series chargers, features ZigBee wireless communications capability allowing customers to connect with power suppliers according to their needs.

“We just want to supply the hardware,” Packard says.

The new ClipperCreek charger will be formally introduced at the DistribuTech show in San Diego later this month.
