Sarasota, Fla.-based Cruise Car has released a new digital catalog of its 100% battery electric low-speed vehicles. Cruise Car offers two- to 30-passenger transports, a wide variety of light utility vehicles (including medical transports), and custom trailers. Solar-electric arrays and gasoline engines are available for range extension.

Customers include government agencies, military bases, prisons, universities, and resorts.

Lead Acid and the Sun

The firm uses 4.5-kilowatt (approximately 12-horsepower) ACT motors powered by lead acid batteries, with aluminum chassis for lighter weight (hence batter range) and corrosion resistance.

Optional Cruise Car solar canopies add as much as seven miles per day of off-grid range.

Also optional is an upgrade for U.S. street-legal LSV operation.
