Mississippi Facility Initially for Neighborhood Electric Vehicles
GreenTech Automotive is celebrating completion of a new factory battery electric vehicles, starting with the MyCar low-speed neighborhood EV. Production at the plant Robinsonville, Miss., just south of Memphis, is to begin this month.
“We have completely redesigned and reengineered the all-electric MyCar,” GTA chairman and CEO Charles Wang said in a release; “developed strategic relationships with major automotive OEMs; and attracted, trained and retained a dedicated workforce in Mississippi.”
“The transition from our pilot manufacturing facility in Horn Lake is nearly complete,” COO Gilbert Villarreal said in the late October announcement.
From Farm to Factory in Less than a Year
“Production equipment will be installed and operational this month, which keeps us on schedule to begin production of the 2015 MyCar.”
The ABS-bodied NEV has a 16.7-kilowatt-hour lithium iron phosphate battery pack affording a single-charge range of 60 to 65 miles.
GTA says it “turned a parcel of farmland into a modern electric vehicle production facility in nine months.”
“We look forward to a productive 2015,” Villarreal said.
GTA is a subsidiary of WM Industries Corp.
