Transport for London welcomed the 200th hybrid bus to its fleet last week. The vehicle is an Enviro400H model by Alexander Dennis Ltd, with HybriDrive brand series driveline by BAE Systems with lithium ion batteries – supplied by A123 Systems.
TfL’s buses on order, which are to bring the agency’s hybrid total to more than 300, are divided between the ADL Enviro400s and Volvo vehicles with ISAM (Integrated Starter Alternator Motor) drives. TfL also has hybrid WrightBus and Optare hybrids.
Separately, BAE said it’s inked a 20-year agreement with Caterpillar to integrate the Cat CX family of transmissions into its HybriDrive parallel drive for trucks, “and will establish an aftermarket field services model leveraging Caterpillar’s vast global service network to support the growing installed base.”
