Incentive Exceeds the Upcharge, Making ‘h’ Model Cheaper!

Hino Trucks has been approved for California HVIP funding that’s greater than the price premium for the Class 5 195h diesel electric hybrid cabover vehicle, making the hybrid model cheaper to buy than the straight diesel.

Hino Class 5 195h diesel-electric hybrid trucks are eligible for California HVIP funding making them cheaper to buy, Hino says, than non-hybrids.

“The hybrid upcharge on our 195h is only $12,000, [and] customers who utilize the HVIP can see up to a $25,000 voucher,” Hino Trucks marketing VP Glenn Ellis said in a Monday release. “This means they can purchase a 195h hybrid truck for less than a traditional diesel truck.”

“California customers will take delivery of the first diesel electric 195h vehicles in November,” Ellis said.

HVIP is the California Air Resources Board’s California Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project, jointly run by CARB and Calstart.
