Hybrid Drive Developer and Body Firm Team on Hybrid Electric Walk-In Vans
Crosspoint Kinetics has disclosed an alliance with Morgan Olson that will make Kinetics Hybrid-powered walk-in van delivery vehicles available to customers throughout North America.
The Kinetics Hybrid from Crosspoint Kinetics is a bolt-on parallel hybrid electric system designed to make Class 3-7 delivery vans and trucks more fuel-efficient, and cleaner. The system captures kinetic energy in long-life ultracapacitors while slowing and braking, and releases it as incremental power “to launch and accelerate the vehicle.”
Users have reported up to 30% more miles per gallon and a comparable reduction in emissions when the hybrid is used in heavy start/stop duty cycles,” Crosspoint Kinetics said at this week’s NTEA Work Truck Show in Indianapolis.
5 Million Miles of Trials
“Our clients are looking for a simpler solution to lowering their operating costs while reducing environmental impact,” Morgan Olson sales and marketing Rich Tremmel says in the announcement. “In many cases, the Kinetics Hybrid is that right solution.”
The Kinetics Hybrid is engineered to be easy to install and operate in small transit buses, shuttles, and service/delivery vehicles, Crosspoint Kinetics says: “The system successfully completed independent performance testing and has been validated by an estimated 5 million miles of customer driving throughout North America.”
Crosspoint Kinetics is a subsidiary of Cummins Crosspoint.
