Allison Drives for Connecticut DoT’s New Hartford-Area BRT Fleet
The Connecticut Department of Transportation has launched a new Bus Rapid Transit system including 42 new hybrid electric buses with parallel drivelines from Allison Transmission. The new CTfastrak BRT network serves the Hartford area.
The CTfastrak BRT fleet includes
- twelve 60-foot articulated vehicles by Nova Bus at a cost of $906,633 apiece;
- eighteen 40-foot transit buses by New Flyer at a cost of $620,609 apiece; and
- twelve 30-foot transit buses by Gillig at a cost of $625,439 apiece.
All are powered by 280-horsepower Cummins ISB diesel engines.
CTfastrak is also adding six 45-foot MCI commuter coaches with 425-horsepower Cummins ISX diesel engines to an existing fleet of nine 2009 vehicles at a cost of $564,329 apiece.
CTfastrak is waiving fares on the new bus-only roadway routes through Sunday, April 5.
