The order is for 54 forty-foot XDE40 and 44 sixty-foot XDE60 Xcelsior vehicles with parallel hybrid electric drivelines from Allison Transmission. It is the third order by Muni off a base contract awarded in December 2014 (F&F, January 9, 2015).

167 Options Remain

“Options for 48 XDE40 and 50 XDE60 were exercised in June 2015, leaving 167 options remaining on the contract that may be exercised up until December of 2019,” New Flyer said yesterday.

SF Muni is the eighth largest transit system in the United States, New Flyer says, carrying more than 225 million passengers annually.
