February 12 Event Follows Hydrogen Fuel Cell Bus Conference
SunLine Transit and the California Hydrogen Business Council are hosting a technology tour of SunLine Transit operations in Thousand Palms, Calif. on Friday, February 12.
“As CHBC continues its commitment to advancing hydrogen fuel cell technology in California, we are looking forward to more transit-related activities in 2016,” states an invitation.
The association notes that SunLine Transit operates one of the largest fleets of hydrogen fuel cell buses in the nation and was the first transit agency to own and operate a hydrogen generation and dispensing station, which operates 24 hours a day and is open to the public.
Ballard Is the Lead Sponsor
“It is the only hydrogen fueling station in the Coachella Valley, where SunLine Transit carries nearly 5 million passengers per year in a 1,120 mile service area,” CHBC says.
Friday’s late-morning (and lunch and networking) event follows an invitation-only CHBC conference that kicks off on the evening of Wednesday, February 10.
Ballard Power Systems is the leading sponsor. SunLine has operated Ballard fuel cell-powered buses since 2011 and now has five, and is expected to deploy five new ones later this year or in early 2017 (F&F, February 10, 2015).
