NGVA Europe and other advocates of natural gas as a transportation fuel in Europe are promoting the new LNG 4 Trucks & Ships workshop taking place September 19-21 at the Hotel Casa 400 in Amsterdam.

Vos Logistics of The Netherlands has been one of the first European truckers to embrace natural gas.

The gathering will be hosted by Ballast Nedam (which has a new subsidiary called LNG24; F&F, April 9), and organized by The GVR/NGV Communications Group.

Emerson Micro Motion is an early sponsor.

Organizers expect that hundreds of LNG and dual fuel on-road vehicles and ships will enter Dutch service soon. As many as 10,000 heavy duty vehicles supported by some five dozen fueling facilities in the 2017-2022 timeframe.

Maasvlakte ‘Europort’ at Rotterdam – aka The Gate – may see some of Europe’s first LNG fueling installations for ships as well as trucks.

“A third of truckers could be using liquefied natural gas in just over a decade,” said NGVA Europe GM Manuel Lage said in a release.

Attendees can expect further details on Holland’s new “Green Deal” plan to deploy at least 500 heavy duty trucks, 50 barges, and 50 ships on LNG.

LNG 4 Trucks & Ships will include a technical tour to LNG24’s new LNG filling station in Zwolle, and the meeting will also feature a natural gas boat tour of the Amsterdam canals.
