Duel Fuel Specified by Rig Operator Total E&P Norge

Norway’s Siem Offshore Rederi gave word Thursday that it’s evaluating firm proposals for a duel fuel LNG-diesel platform supply vessel to be built to support Total E&P Norge operations.

The diesel-fueled Siem Sailor was built by Karmsund Maritim Services in Norway in 2007.

“The new PSV shall be operated from 2014 and serve the Martin Linge field in the North Sea northwest of Stavanger,” Siem said.

The new PSV is being designed in collaboration with Wärtsilä Ship Design, and will be able to operate on either liquefied natural gas or MDO, marine diesel oil. It will have 968 square meters of deck space – upwards of 10,400 square feet – slightly smaller than the diesel-fueled Siem Sailor built in 2007.

Kristiansand-based Siem says that the contract foe the Martin Linge field is its first with Total for the Norwegian sector. The pact is for an initial period of four years, with four one-year options. “The contract will commence between May and August 2014,” Siem said.
