Seatech Engineering in Poland has designed an inland waterways push tug, with twin 720-kilowatt (965 horsepower) Mitsubishi engines converted to run on liquefied natural gas, according to reports – most crediting the yachtsman Dag Pike.

The key challenge was to fit the LNG tanks onboard the vessel while maintaining its size.

According to reports, two 35-cubic-meter (9,200 gallons) LNG tanks would be placed in the forward section of the hull below a raised section of deck. The forward wheelhouse would be raised and lowered hydraulically to allow both low bridge clearance and good visibility over the cargo barges ahead.
