Honeywell UOP Trumpets Joint Offering with Black & Veatch
Des Plaines, Ill.-based Honeywell UOP is talking up a new alliance with Black & Veatch to supply liquefied natural gas as both a transportation fuel and for off-road, high-horsepower applications.
The firms will offer integrated, small-scale LNG plants capable of processing between 50,000 and 500,000 gallons of LNG per day per single processing train, Honeywell says.
Their alliance “combines modular equipment offerings from Honeywell UOP, with technology, engineering and project implementation services from Black & Veatch to lower customer costs, and improve flexibility and speed to market for LNG production,” states a release.
Honeywell Controls, UOP Russell Modularization
“The complete small-scale LNG plant offering will be available in 2013.”
“Starting this year, this alliance will help deliver fast, economical, efficient and reliable LNG plants to help meet growing demands in North America,” Honeywell UOP gas processing and hydrogen business unit senior VP Rebecca Liebert said in the announcement.
The agreement “provides a one-stop solution for proven design, procurement, construction and fabrication solutions for small-scale LNG plants in North America.” The pact combines UOP’s process technology knowhow and UOP Russell modularized equipment offerings, Honeywell controls and automation solutions, and B&V’s engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services – as well as B&V’s PRICO natural gas liquefaction technology.
B&V’s PRICO for Single-Loop LNG Processing
Honeywell acquired the Russell line including modularized packaged LNG plants last year. The equipment allows natural gas producers to remove contaminants and recover high-value natural gas liquids. The UOP Russell gear is designed to reduce construction time and costs.
“UOP Russell offers the industry’s leading modularized gas processing equipment,” said B&V VP John George says in the Honeywell UOP release.
B&V’s PRICO technology, Honeywell UOP says, employs a patented, single-mixed refrigerant loop for natural gas liquefaction. “PRICO offers a simplified refrigeration system that requires minimal equipment, enables simplified control and maintenance, and offers flexibility in feed gas composition, allowing low capital and operating expenditures.”
