Integrated Unit Allows for 100 DGE in a Single Tank
Chart Industries is promoting a new, high capacity, fully integrated liquefied natural gas fuel system for trucks for the 2013 model year, capable of holding 100 diesel gallon equivalents in a single cryogenic vessel.
“Chart’s LNG truck fuel system has been integrated into a self-contained unit for simplified and expedited installation, as required by high-volume assembly lines,” the company says. The new maximum single tank capacity of 100 DGEs allows for extended driving range at lower cost.
“By incorporating components that are normally installed as a separate module into the tank, the system’s space claim and complexity is reduced,” the company says. “Vehicle manufacturers to incorporate this technology with less operational disruptions.”
‘Longest Hold-Times in the Industry’
Chart also claims “the longest hold-times in the industry,” better than seven days for popular sizes, with a heat management system that auto-refrigerates the tank.
“Combining various on-board fuel system components into one integrated LNG truck tank package will facilitate more efficient installation,” Chart distribution and storage group president Tom Carey said in a release.
“Providing 100 DGE of storage in a single fuel tank will make LNG an even more attractive cost, space, weight and driving range alternative in heavy duty truck and bus applications,” Carey said.
