‘Largest Tender Award in Asia for CNG Buses Using Type IV Cylinders this Year’

Germany’s Xperion Energy & Environment reports orders from three China-based bus OEMs to supply X-Store brand Type IV compressed natural gas cylinders for Indonesia’s TransJakarta-Jakarta Busways.

Xperion and partner C. Melchers will deliver more than 600 systems by the end of 2013, Xperion says.

“This represents the largest tender award in Asia for CNG buses using Type IV cylinders this year,” states a release.

“Xperion secured this business through a combination of best in class technology, competitive pricing and fast deliveries,” said Xperion international sales manager Sean Ellen.

“These systems will support Jakarta Busways efforts to further promote fuel efficiency and reduced maintenance costs by replacing steel cylinders with lightweight X-Store systems,” he said in the announcement.

The three OEMs are Anhui Ankai Automobile, Yutong Bus, and Zhongtong Bus Holding. They “represent the three largest bus manufacturers in China,” Xperion says, “with an excellent reputation in supplying CNG buses worldwide.

“This is the first time for all three OEMs [to utilize] Type IV technology.”
