He’ll Preside Over the Natural Gas Engine JV for 2014
Cummins Westport said this morning that sales and marketing VP Gordon Exel has been named president of the joint venture effective January 1. The appointment is the last in Westport’s three-year term to nominate the president.
“Gordon’s experience with Cummins Westport and solid understanding of the customers and markets are key assets that will contribute to the ongoing success of Cummins Westport,” JV chairman Ed Pence said in a release. Pence is VP and general manager of the high horsepower engine business at Cummins.
Exel joined Westport in 2002.
Cummins Westport is bringing the 11.9-liter ISX12 G engine to full production, and is continuing work on a 6.7-liter spark-ignition engine for smaller natural gas vehicles. More than 20,000 of the joint venture’s 8.9-liter ISL G have been shipped.
Also effective the first of the year, the Cummins Westport board will include Pence, Cummins automotive on highway business controller Dean Cantrell, Cummins on-highway business VP Ric Kleine, Westport finance VP Ashoka Achuthan, Westport mining and rail VP Thomas Rippon, and outgoing president Jim Arthurs.
