Repowers Eligible for Up to $24 Million TNGVGP Offering
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is making as much as $24 million available to encourage the replacement of older medium and heavy duty trucks with natural gas vehicles.
Re-powers of older trucks with new engines, or the replacement of older vehicles with new ones, are both eligible under the Texas Natural Gas Vehicle Grant Program.
The grants will cover as much as 90% of the incremental costs. Older vehicle must have at least two years of remaining useful life.
First Come, First Served
Grant applicants must work via a participating dealer under TCEQ contract, and the vehicles awarded grants must be operated in eligible TNGVGP counties. All of the 64 currently eligible counties, with the exception of El Paso, are in the eastern part of the state.
The TNGVGP money is being offered via TERP – TCEQ’s Texas Emissions Reduction Program.
Applications will be accepted until May 31 – or until the TNGVGP money is committed.
