350 City Buses for Astana with First Use of Type IV Cylinders
Norway’s Hexagon Raufoss reports an order from Iveco for compressed natural gas fuel systems for 350 buses for Astana, Kazakhstan. They will be the first buses with all-composite Type IV cylinders in the country, states a release.
“The main market driver for the CNG market in Kazakhstan is local availability and the low gas price relative to conventional fuel,” Hexagon Raufoss says.
“Our technology will provide significant savings and reliability for the bus fleet operator and passengers,” sales manager Milosz Szymaniak says in the announcement. “We look forward to introducing our technology in the promising Kazakh market.”
Experts including Jeff Seisler of Brussels-based Clean Fuels Consulting and Marcy Rood Werpy of Clean Cities and the Argonne National Lab near Chicago have helped pave the way for CNG transit in Astana (F&F, September 14).
