‘Any Fleet Fueling Card or Major Credit Card’ at All Blu LNG Outlets
As Provider Opens with Ryder System in Atlanta and Plans for More
Salt Lake City-based Blu has a partnership with Comdata to manage card payments at its liquefied natural gas fueling stations nationwide. The new system, in operation now at all two dozen Blu outlets, allows truckers to pay with “any fleet fueling card or major credit card” when buying Blu LNG.
Separately, Ryder has opened an LNG station serving Ryder System trucks at the Fulton County Industrial Park outside Atlanta, says Blu CEO Merritt Norton. The firms have teamed to deploy some 35 LNG trucks, primarily thus far for demonstration purposes.
Two or three more outlets for Ryder are expected by year-end, Norton says.
‘Increases Efficiency and Reliability and Lowers Costs’
The partnership with Comdata, Norton said in a release, “helps set Blu apart within the LNG fueling industry.” Blu’s ability to accept virtually any type of payment, he told F&F, “matches or exceeds the best capabilities of any diesel station out there.”
“The new system provides a direct interface between the fuel dispenser (the pump) and the point-of-sale system and eliminates the third-party controller, which increases efficiency and reliability and lowers costs,” states the Blu announcement.
“In addition to accepting payments, the new Comdata SmartSight systems will provide real-time data and automatic email notifications to enable Blu technicians to remotely monitor and manage fueling sites.”
‘Fastest Fueling Natural Gas Solution’
Blu claims the “fastest fueling natural gas solution,” and says it’s made fueling more convenient for truckers too by including dispensers that allow pumping of LNG, diesel and diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) on the same lane.
Comdata, Blu notes, manages more than 600 million cards and processes more than 1 billion transactions from over 45 countries and in 26 currencies worldwide, enabling upwards of $54 billion in payment volume annually.
