CNG Concrete Mixer with Cummins Westport’s ISL G Near Zero
Kenworth Truck is gearing up to display a two dedicated-natural gas trucks at the upcoming Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo, which takes place May 1-4 at Southern California’s Long Beach Convention Center. The ACT Expo 2017 exhibition hall will be open May 2-3.
Kenworth will show a T880S mixer with the 8.9-liter super low-NOx, Cummins Westport ISL G Near Zero engine. The S connotes Kenneth’s new set-forward front axle configuration – “well-suited for truck operators in ready-mix, dump and mobile crane applications where every incremental pound of payload delivered contributes directly to the bottom line,” the company said last month.
The T880S has a 114-inch BBC (distance from front bumper to the back of the cab), Kenworth says, and “best-in-class” 28-inch bumper setting.
A T680 with ISX12 G, Too
The truckbuilder said late last year that it would offer the ISL G Near Zero engine in its T880 and T680 models (F&F, October 3).
In addition to the T880S, Kenworth will show a T680 Day Cab with the 11.9-liter Cummins Westport ISX12 G engine (courtesy Matheson Postal Services; F&F, March 15, 2016).
Cummins Westport is developing a Near Zero version of the ISX12 G, expected to go on sale next year. A field test unit is at work for TTSI/Total Transportation Services, Inc. (F&F, March 24), a large drayage operator at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.
ACT Expo 2017 will include a special Game Changer 2.0 workshop on the implications of Near Zero natural gas engines from Cummins Westport powered by biomethane on Monday, May 1.
