Ohio’s First Autogas-Fueled Paratransit Buses, GAS Upfits,
‘Agency Will Recoup Its Investment in Just Over One Year’
Roush CleanTech is talking up the Ohio’s first propane autogas-fueled paratransit buses, as RTA, the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority has purchased 20 Ford E-450 chassis vehicles.
“The agency will recoup its investment in just over one year,” Roush says, as “the new shuttles are projected to save $21,000 per vehicle in fuel costs and maintenance over a six-year period.”
“When you can save money while saving the planet, it’s a no-brainer,” RTA CEO Joe Calabrese says in the Roush release.
GAS, ElDorado National-Kansas, Myers Equipment
Roush propane fuel systems were installed by Green Alternative Systems and the buses with ElDorado National-Kansas bodies sold via Canfield. Ohio-based Myers Equipment.
The state-breaking sale was announced at APTA Expo in Houston today. RTA, the largest public transit system in Ohio and the 13th largest in the nation, hopes to switch its entire fleet of 100 paratransit buses to autogas as part of a normal replacement cycle, Roush says.
