Propane Council of Texas Offers Up to $7,500 Per Vehicle

The Propane Council of Texas has boosted its incentives to private fleets deploying autogas vehicles to cover up to $7,500 for aftermarket conversions.

The Taxi Cab Company of Tyler reduced its fuel costs by $10,578 in 2012 by running five vehicles on clean propane autogas, the Propane Council of Texas reports.

The Taxi Cab Company of Tyler reduced its fuel costs by $10,578 in 2012 by running five vehicles on clean propane autogas, the Propane Council of Texas reported (F&F, September 10, 2013).

“The program provides seed money for Texas businesses who are introducing propane autogas into their fleet for the first time,” ProCOT education and marketing director Jackie Mason said in a release.

“The Council believes businesses that demo the vehicle in their fleet will clearly see the advantages and continue to adopt propane into their fleet without any further incentives.”

Up to $15,000 per Fleet

“Last year, it was $7,500 for OEM vehicles from the factory and $5,000 for aftermarket conversions,” Mason told F&F. “As of late last month, our board voted to increase the incentive for aftermarket conversions.”

The program cap remains $15,000 per private fleet. Recipients are required to provide data on their autogas operations to the council.

ProCOT notes that it’s provided incentives to business fleets to try propane autogas since 2010. Past recipients include ARS, Admiral Linen & Uniform, Primetime Gutters, and ThyssenKrupp Elevator.
