Five Autogas Vehicles for Beverage Delivery in Los Angeles

Roush CleanTech and Nestlé Waters North America are kicking off deployment of five propane autogas Ford F-550 trucks to deliver Arrowhead Mountain Spring Water in Los Angeles.

Three of the five Mickey Body- and Roush CleanTech-modifed Ford F-550s to operate solely on propane autogas for Nestlé Waters/Arrowhead in Los Angeles.

The vehicles were sold through Midway Ford in Olathe, Kans. and got their beverage bodies with Mickey Body, in High Point, N.C. before their dedicated-propane systems were installed by Roush in Michigan.

Nestlé likes the propane trucks for their full factory warranty, ease of fueling, low autogas infrastructure cost “and the unexpected benefit of lower electricity costs,” Roush says, noting that the company operates more than 2,000 trucks, fueled primarily by diesel.

On-Site Fueling

“Like many, we are evaluating the different technologies that offer savings over the life of the vehicle and realized that propane autogas is a smart choice for reducing fuel and maintenance costs while providing cleaner air for the community,” Nestlé Waters North America fleet manager Bill Ardis says in a Roush release.

Nestlé has on-site diesel fueling in Los Angeles and has “chosen to continue this practice by adding an on-site propane autogas fueling station,” Roush says.

Each of the trucks is equipped with a California Air Resources Board- and U.S. EPA-compliant Roush CleanTech propane autogas fuel system with a 45-usable gallon fuel tank.
