Online Grocer Got Six Trucks Last Year, Expects Seven More Next Week
It’s a propane baker’s dozen for Peapod in Chicago, as the online grocer is adding seven autogas-fueled delivery trucks to six already in place at its Lake Zurich facility in suburban Chicago.
The Roush CleanTech-outfitted propane trucks for suburban routes will complement a pair of used Workhorse-chassis vehicles fitted with hydraulic hybrid drivelines from Lightning Hybrids. The two were recently deployed for downtown Chicago inner-city work, says Peapod Midwest transportation fleet administrator Claudia Fikert.
The Roush-powered vehicles for Lake Zurich, northwest of Chicago proper, are new trucks based on the Ford F-59 strip chassis, she told F&F. Peapod has on onsite fueling facility with propane supplied by AmeriGas, she says.
