The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority has floated a solicitation offering total funding of $3 million toward virtually any transportation technology offering energy, environmental, and economic benefits.
Electrified transportation, alt fuels and energy recovery for heavy duty vehicles, advanced vehicle components and improved infrastructure are all eligible, as are transit, rail, marine, aviation, and intermodal operations, and anti-idling schemes.
Awards are limited to $500,000 for projects yielding working prototypes within 36 months, $150,000 for R&D “crucial to the development of a marketable product, system, or service,” and $50,000 for feasibility studies.
Cost-sharing is required, “preferably in the amount of 50% or more of total project cost.” Teaming arrangements are encouraged.
Proposals under NYSERDA’s PON 2584 (PON stands for Program Opportunity Notice) are due September 5.
