Momentum and Agility Tout Engine Compatibility
At ATA’s Annual Transportation Technology Expo

Agility Fuel Solutions and the Momentum Fuel Technologies unit of Rush Enterprises are emphasizing telematics compatibility for their natural gas vehicle fuel systems at the American Trucking Association’s TMC annual meeting and Transportation Technology Exhibition in Nashville this week.

TMC is ATA’s Technology & Maintenance Council.

Momentum and Agility are promoting enhanced compatibility with Cummins Westport’s ISX12 G and ISL G dedicated-natural gas engines.

Both Agility and Momentum are promoting systems that are compatible with the latest natural gas engines from Cummins Westport.

Agility’s ‘BlueiQ’

Agility has introduced a product called “BlueiQ” it says was “developed through Agility’s partnership with Cummins to give natural gas vehicles the same tools diesel trucks use to optimize fuel consumption and maximize uptime.”

Blue iQ is integrated with Cummins Connected Diagnostics, Insite, service tool, and QuickServe support “to connect vehicles, drivers, managers, and technicians for real-time management, diagnostics, and service,” Agility says, stating further that Blue iQ is the only tool that has access to Cummins proprietary engine data.

“Blue iQ allows natural gas vehicles to operate on a level playing field with diesel, but with lower fuel costs, quieter engines, and less emissions,” Agility CEO Kathleen Ligocki says in today’s release.

‘Already Compliant,’ Says Momentum

Momentum says that its line of its line of compressed natural gas fuel systems for Class 6 to Class 8 trucks are already compliant with software requirements expected in 2018 (OBD2018) and are “able to integrate with Cummins ISL-G and ISX12G.

All Momentum fuel systems are also fully integrated with Rush Truck Centers’ telematics platform,” Momentum says.

“Since our company began in 2015, Momentum’s CNG fuel systems have been utilizing the most advanced technologies and communication systems in CNG-powered vehicles,” said Momentum GM Mike Zimmerman. “Momentum was the first CNG system manufacturer to integrate the [SAE] J1939 communication system which connects a truck’s fuel system, fuel management module and engine.

New 175-DGE Array

“In keeping with that approach, our integrated electronics communications system is already compliant with expected software requirement improvements,” he said.

‘A Major Benefit’

Momentum also took the occasion of the TMC meeting in Nashville to unveil 175-DGE/diesel gallon equivalent bac-of-cab CNG fuel cylinder assembly for trucks.

“The larger capacity tank gives drivers even more time between fill-ups,” Zimmerman said.

“This is a major benefit for all drivers, but especially for over-the-road carriers putting in extensive miles.”
