Endorsement for Allison 3000 and 4000 Transmission Trucks

Heavy duty plug-in hybrid electric vehicle specialist Odyne reports that Allison Transmission “has globally endorsed” its electric power takeoff equipment for trucks using Allison’s 3000 and 4000 series transmissions.

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Authority – SF Muni – is operating 112 hybrid electric buses from New Flyer Industries, 89 of them with series drivetrains from BAE Systems. The agency exercised an option for 50 of the 40-foot vehicles late last year, adding to 62 previously ordered and deployed. updated January 15

A Freightliner Cascadia 113-inch BBC day cab tractor powered by the new Cummins Westport ISX12 G natural gas engine took off from ACT Expo Thursday, headed east on the manufacturer’s first-ever heavy duty U.S. crossing –fueled all the way by public-access CNG.

“We wanted to show the status of natural gas infrastructure,” Daimler Trucks marketing strategy GM David Hames said Wednesday. The truck will stop at roughly 700- to 750-mile intervals to fuel – “entirely on public fueling stations,” he said.
