Honda’s 2018 Honda Clarity Plug-in Hybrid will go on sale December 1 with a base MSRP of $33,400 “with highly equipped standard equipment.” The PHEV with touring trim package will be offered for $36,600.

Philadelphia Gas Works is applying $240,000 in Pennsylvania grant money to the purchase of 50 compressed natural gas vehicles – marking a return to the technology for the nation’s largest municipally owned utility.

PGW is preparing an RFP now for dealers interested in supplying all or part of 24 Honda Civic Natural Gas sedans – with a preference for 2012 and 2013 model year vehicles with rebates and fuel purchase incentives from Honda and Clean Energy Fuels (F&F, October 9, 2012).

The incentives for the 2012 cars expire on January 5.

A New CNG Fueling Station Too

Next will come 26 Ford E-250 vans, with upfitter to be determined, says PGW major accounts executive John Murray.

The utility is also preparing a solicitation for a private-access CNG fueling station to be built at its West Montgomery Avenue headquarters, Murray told F&F.

V2G advocates would like to see electric vehicles and their capacious batteries placed at the disposal of utilities when the EVs are idle and electricity demand is high.
