They’re calling it Workhorse 2.0. Ohio’s Amp Holding acquired Workhorse brand (and Indiana factory and national network of 440 dealers) from Navistar for $5 million earlier this year, and mounted its first-ever ACT Expo appearance late last month to debut the all-electric step van it says promises quick payback for fleet operators.

Buys Brand & Factory, Will Emphasize Battery EVs

Amp Electric Vehicles has completed its $5 million purchase of Workhorse from Navistar and is moving to produce battery electric vehicles at the 200,000-square-foot Workhorse factory in Union City, Ind. Medium-Duty Battery Truck Durability Trials with Ohio’s TRC

Hoping to make the case that its pure battery medium duty truck conversions can save operators $100,000 over a vehicle’s remaining ten years of service, Ohio’s Amp Electric Vehicles has engaged TRC (Transportation Research Center, also of Ohio) “to independently test the vehicle to ensure it can survive the rigors of package delivery in an environment where it is common to keep vans in service for 20 years or more.”
