CEC Funds for AVT Manufacturing

$10 Million Available, Workshop on September 19

The California Energy Commission has approximately $10 million for advanced vehicle manufacturing facilities under ARFVT, the agency’s Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program.

CEC-logoThe agency seeks too help establish California factories that produce zero- or near zero-emission vehicles, or components for such vehicles.

The solicitation/Program Opportunity Notice (PON-14-604) encompasses electric, CNG/compressed natural gas, LNG/liquefied natural gas, E-85, biogas, renewable diesel, ethanol, DME/dimethyl ether, biomethane, and hydrogen/fuel cell vehicles.

The maximum funding amount that may be requested per proposal is $3 million, CEC says, and the minimum is $1 million. Cost-sharing of at least 50% is required.

CEC will host a pre-application workshop for the advanced vehicle manufacturing initiative in Sacramento on September 19.

Applications will be accepted until November 7.

CEC Funds for ZEV Readiness

$3.3 Million Available, Workshop on September 18

The California Energy Commission has approximately $3.3 million available for zero emission vehicle readiness projects under ARFVT, the agency’s Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program.

CEC-logoThe new CEC solicitation/Program Opportunity Notice (PON-14-603) covers both plug-in and hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles.

Readiness plans developed under PON-14-603 are to cover the permitting and inspection, the installation of charging and/or hydrogen fueling, siting, signage, and zero emission vehicle awareness.

CEC will host a pre-application workshop in Sacramento on September 18.

Applications will be accepted through December 2, or whenever funds or exhausted.

February 10 Gathering to Discuss Draft Investment Plan

The California Energy Commission will host a meeting on ARFVT, the Alternative Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology program, on February 10.

CECThe meeting at the Engineering Laboratory Facility (Building 323) at the University of California, in Irvine, Calif., will cover a revised staff draft of the 2014-2015 Investment Plan Update.

California’s AB118 statute directs the investment of approximately $100 million per year into clean and advanced fuel and vehicle technologies, and infrastructure development.

CEC has provided to date more than $420 million in program funding toward more than 250 projects.

For the latest installment, CEC is proposing funding “for a spectrum of project types.”

Among the standout items for fiscal 2014-2015 are $20 million for biofuel production and supply and for hydrogen fueling infrastructure, $15 million each for electric charging infrastructure and medium and heavy duty advanced technology demos, and $9 million for natural gas vehicle incentives.

Energy Commission Releases 2013-2014 ARFVT Investment Plan

The California Energy Commission’s latest Alternative and Renewable Fuels and Vehicle Technology investment plan “provides a solid foundation for the continued transformation of California’s transportation sector,” agency chair Robert Weisenmiller said Wednesday.
