New Eagle LNG Plant in Jacksonville Will Support ConRo Vessels

Crowley Maritime this week launched El Coqui, the first of its two liquefied natural gas-fueled Commitment-class cargo vessels, at the VT Halter shipyard in Pascagoula, Miss. El Coquí is to be delivered for Caribbean service later this year and a sister ship, Taíno, in the first half of 2018.

More LNG Locomotives in Russia

Russian Railways and associated organizations are stepping up their work on liquefied natural gas-fueled trains, planning a new gas turbine locomotive for May 2013 and pledging to deploy 39 more in 2020 if tests go well, according to information furnished by Eugene Pronin of Gazprom (himself citing the Prime-TASS news service).

World’s Fastest & Cleanest for Buquebus in Argentina

Czech-based Chart Ferox says it’s been tapped for the LNG fuel system for a 325-foot catamaran ferry to be built by Australia’s Incat. It’s to be the first catamaran powered by twin 27,000-hp natural gas-fueled turbines, Chart Ferox says, and as such will be “the world’s fastest, environmentally cleanest, most efficient, high-speed ferry.”
