‘The Pay Back for the Investment Is Approximately Two Years’

Canonsburg, Pa.-based Range Resources – which says it pioneered the Marcellus Shale in 2004 – is talking up deployment of 184 natural gas vehicles, a combination of Chrysler Ram 2500 CNG and Chevrolet Silverado 2500 bi-fuel CNG-gasoline pickups, with 100 in southwestern Pennsylvania.

Battery Car Launches in California for $199/Month Lease

Chrysler is promoting a 36-month lease deal for the battery electric Fiat 500e, which goes on sale in California this summer. The car will be available for $199 per month with $999 down, Chrysler says – the same as the current lease offer on a Fiat 500 Pop with a gasoline engine.

First of 242 Pickups to State Was Delivered Wednesday

Chrysler said Wednesday that the State of Oklahoma, its largest customer to date for the Ram 2500 CNG bi-fuel pickup, began taking deliveries on March 6. Chrysler network development and fleet VP Peter Grady presented the keys to one of the trucks to Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin today at the Oklahoma Department of Transportation in Oklahoma City.

Chrysler’s deployment of three plug-in hybrid-electric vehicles with the Sacramento Municipal Utility District marks the start of a “vital second phase” of the automaker’s PHEV development efforts, as 25 Town & Country minivans have now been placed, as well as 140 Ram 1500 pickups.

The PHEV Town & Country vans feature a driveline with an E85-compatible, 3.6-liter Pentastar engine and a 12.1-kilowatt-hour, liquid-cooled, Electrovaya SuperPolymer brand lithium-ion battery affording a total output of 290 horsepower and a total range of 700 miles.

Chrysler said it’s decided to withdraw its application for an Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing loan from the U.S. Department of Energy. The firm said it “remains confident in its strategy to bring competitive, fuel-efficient vehicles and technologies to market on schedule.”

Mansfield Gas Equipment Systems (MGES) reports a contract from Chrysler to furnish compressed natural gas fueling installations at two research-proving grounds facilities in Michigan and a third in Arizona.
