The vehicle for the MATS ride-and-drive, from Hunter Truck Sales of Butler, Pa. has a new Axiom brand compressed natural gas fuel cylinder array from Ohio’s NatGasCar.

The California Energy Commission late last week unanimously approved $35 million worth of funding for “a diversity of alternative fuel and vehicle types,” paving the way for contracts to be signed.

The technologies being fostered will be necessary for the state to meet its own efficiency and greenhouse gas reduction goals, says Calstart president and CEO John Boesel, whose organization is the largest recipient.

Sainsbury’s Is But One Taker of ‘Genesis Edge’ Conversion Kits

The UK’s Clean Air Power has publicized a spate of orders for its Genesis Edge brand dual fuel engine conversion kits, which allow diesel engines to run primarily on natural gas – up to 90%, the company says – culminating in an order for ten units for the Sainsbury’s supermarket chain.

“This order will take their total to 24 trucks which will operate using biomethane gas which has been produced from landfill waste,” CAP said.

Navistar and Clean Energy Fuels have launched “a comprehensive natural gas strategy” designed to bring more options to operators who will buy fuel from Clean Energy, including fuel from the firm’s vaunted new network of truck stop outlets. The program “will provide customers with a sustainable, commercially viable solution for adding natural gas powered trucks to their fleets,” Navistar says.
