Clean Energy and Agility Team on CNG

Fuel Provider and Fuel System Provider Join Forces

Compressed natural gas fuel provider Clean Energy Fuels and Agility Fuel Systems, the leader in CNG fuel systems for heavy duty vehicles, are mounting  a joint CNG fuel system sales program aimed at reducing the incremental cost of heavy-duty natural gas trucks.

Agility+Clean_555Agility and Clean Energy are to “work with trucking customers and offer CNG fuel systems installed at a substantially reduced cost when there is a natural gas fueling agreement.”

“Our goal is to give heavy-duty natural gas truckers a ‘diesel-like’ experience which means it is as easy to buy, fuel and use with the added benefit of using cleaner and less expensive natural gas,” Agility CEO Barry Engle said in a release. Together the firms will “drive adoption of natural gas as a fuel for heavy duty vehicles,” he said.

‘Reducing the Upfront Cost’

This program is to reduce the incremental cost for operators as Clean Energy continues to open locations throughout its nationwide network of natural gas fueling stations.

“Reducing the upfront cost of switching to natural gas is critical for America’s trucking industry,” said Clean Energy regional VP Brett Lindsay.  “Our Fuel System sales program with Agility addresses this issue directly,” he said. It “is another compelling product offering to help fleet operators make the switch to natural gas.”

Agility unveiled a new back-of-cab CNG system, weighing 500 pounds less but holding 160 diesel gallon equivalents instead of 155 DGE on a previous version, late last year. The new BoC array is fruit of the joint venture announced with Hexagon Lincoln at ACT Expo 2014 in Long Beach Calif. (F&F, May 6, 2014).
