Indianapolis-based Monarch Beverage is talking up a $6.7 million project to convert 85% of its fleet to compressed natural gas, tapping Vocational Energy to build an on-site fueling station. Monarch has been testing a Kenworth T660 with the new ISX12 G engine from Cummins Westport for more than a year, and is expected to take delivery of ISX12 G-powered T800s in 2013.

Order Dating from Orion Days Fulfilled in Crookston, Minn.
New Flyer Industries (Toronto:NFI) is fulfilling an order for 74 compressed natural gas-fueled 40-foot buses for the New York City Transit Authority, picking up a contract initially signed with Daimler Orion. Daimler discontinued the Orion brand earlier this year (F&F, May 7). The assigned contract included an additional 30 option buses that were not ordered, New Flyer said.

Freightliner Trucks has launched a customer demo program for its new compressed natural gas-fueled Freightliner Cascadia 113 day cab. Five tractors will be available in the U.S. and Canada “to provide customers direct experience with Freightliner’s newest alternative fuel product,” the manufacturer says.
