Echo Automotive says that a supply agreement with Remy International ensures the supply of components for the EchoDrive bolt-on plug-in hybrid electric drive units going into production this year, while at the same time the companies will co-develop a new motor dubbed the “Echo Induction Machine.”

The firm is ranging beyond CNG for Ford vans using Landi Renzo USA hardware to CNG systems for GM and Chrysler vehicles, propane autogas for a wide range of vehicles, and hybrids: electric, plug-in electric, and hydraulic.

Plug-In Hybrid Upfits for 2010-2014 Express and Savana Vehicles

Arizona-based Echo Automotive is gearing up to offer its EchoDrive plug-in hybrid electric vehicle conversions on GM 2500 and 3500 vans, including the Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana, for model years 2010-2014. Production is expected to commence in the first quarter of 2015.

Upfits with Off-the-Shelf Components for $10,000

Owners of 2007 to 2013 Ford E-series trucks who feel they missed out on hybrids will get another chance: for $10,000 they can convert their vehicles with a plug-and-play kit from Indiana’s Echo Automotive. Fuel savings of 25-50% will mean a payback in three to four years, Echo said at the NTEA Work Truck Show.
