Pacific Gas and Electric Company and Efficient Drivetrains, Inc. is unveiling two new Class 5 plug-in hybrid electric trucks at EDI headquarters in Dixon, Calif. this morning. The EDI work truck, based on a Ford F-550 chassis, features 120 kilowatts of exportable power that can be used to shorten or eliminate planned and unplanned outages.

EDI Driveline to Be Fitted in Greenkraft NGV with CEC Support

San Jose, Calif.-based Efficient Drivetrains, Inc. has California Energy Commission support to install a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle drivetrain, including continuously variable transmission, into a Greenkraft natural gas vehicle. The result will be “a first-of-its-kind, Class-4 vehicle that combines the benefits” of compressed natural gas and PHEV technology, EDI says. updated July 1
