SuperPolymer 2.0 “represents the integration of our automotive and grid knowledge, our customers’ feedback, recent safety enhancements in the aerospace sector and our overall vision of the future design of advanced batteries,” the company says – all with an emphasis on safety.

Chrysler’s deployment of three plug-in hybrid-electric vehicles with the Sacramento Municipal Utility District marks the start of a “vital second phase” of the automaker’s PHEV development efforts, as 25 Town & Country minivans have now been placed, as well as 140 Ram 1500 pickups.

The PHEV Town & Country vans feature a driveline with an E85-compatible, 3.6-liter Pentastar engine and a 12.1-kilowatt-hour, liquid-cooled, Electrovaya SuperPolymer brand lithium-ion battery affording a total output of 290 horsepower and a total range of 700 miles.

Electrovaya (Toronto:EFL) more than doubled its revenues in the fiscal year ended September 30 – to $10.3 million over the previous fiscal year – as the lithium ion battery firm’s accounts receivable increased to $2.7 million, more than double the September 30, 2010 figure.
