Pressure Relief Device Rate Designed for 5,000-psi Applications

Canada’s Emcara Gas Development is promoting a new Viper brand pressure releief device designed for 5,000-psi applications.

Emcara’s new Viper PRD is designed for systems with a working pressure of 5,000psi.

Emcara’s new Viper PRD is designed for systems with a working pressure of 5,000psi.

“The Viper PRD continues to have the unique, patent long-trigger technology that allows for full protection coverage of a tank or a bank of tanks in a CNG system of any size,” the company says.

Higher Flow Rate Too

The new unit has the added benefit of a higher flow rate when venting in the case of a fire, Emcara says, with gas able to escape “at a faster and more efficient manner, as it is extremely important to get the gas out as quickly as possible avoiding any possibility of a tank rupture.”

The Viper PRD trigger can range from 4 to to 45 feet in length, allowing for cost saving over multiple PRD systems. Further, the trigger line allows for detection of smaller fires, Emcara says, including fires as small as 5 inches under some conditions.

The Viper PRD is fully certified and ready market, Emcara says.
