GM is crediting various affiliates of lithium battery supplier LG Chem for helping it develop the new 100% battery electric Chevrolet Bolt for 2016. “General Motors set aside traditional vehicle development to create the Chevrolet Bolt EV, which can travel more than 200 miles on a single electric charge,” states a release.

Canonsburg, Pa.-based Range Resources – which says it pioneered the Marcellus Shale in 2004 – is talking up deployment of 184 natural gas vehicles, a combination of Chrysler Ram 2500 CNG and Chevrolet Silverado 2500 bi-fuel CNG-gasoline pickups, with 100 in southwestern Pennsylvania.

General Motors said Tuesday that it will soon begin prepping its Detroit-Hamtramck facility for late-2013 production of the Cadillac ELR extended-range plug-in electric vehicle. The Chevrolet Volt, Opel Ampera, and Holden Volt extended-range EVs are all built at Detroit-Hamtramck. Extended-range electric vehicles are exported to 21 countries, GM says.
