Honda Plans Its New Fit EV Leases

Both Renewing Customers and New Ones Offered $199 per Month

Honda has advised customers leasing is 100% battery electric Fit EV that they may renew their leases for $199 per month (down from $259) for two years. New customers wishing to lease a used Fit EV that’s been returned to the automaker, may also sign on for two years at $199 per month.

American Honda has claimed the pole position in the race for the most efficient all-electric vehicle, citing U.S. EPA figures of a 118 miles-per-gallon-equivalency (MPGe), “and an unprecedented low consumption rating of just 29 kilowatt hours (kWh) per 100 miles.”

Honda’s big news for fleets is the new-for-2012 dedicated-CNG Civic Natural Gas (formerly the Civic GX), for which the manufacturer is predicting a three-fold sales increase over 2011.

The Honda CNG is powered by a modified four-cylinder, 1.8-liter engine yielding EPA-rated city/highway/ combined fuel economy of 27/38/31 miles per gasoline-gallon equivalent (GGE), a combined improvement of 10.7% from the Civic GX.

Zipcar’s ‘Zipsters’ to Get Honda eCars

American Honda and Massachusetts-based Zipcar say that “Honda has become a Zipcar preferred vehicle manufacturer with a focus on hybrid and electric vehicles” – and that Zipcar will deploy more Honda Insight hybrids and introduce the Fit EV battery electric this fall, and will begin offering the Accord Plug-In PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) sedan in select locations in early 2013.
