Bi-Fuel Ford Vehicles with 3.7-Liter Engine Available to Fleets

Icom North America is claiming the first U.S. EPA certifications, for bi-fuel propane autogas-gasoline operation, of Ford vehicles with the 3.7-liter engine. Icom has certified its liquid-injection system for the V-6 vehicles.

“Icom enjoys a large police, government fleet and livery market and Icom is the first to certify these key vehicle platforms for which we have a large order bank,” Icom central division VP Ed Zoglman says in a release.

The bi-fuel certifications apply to 2013, 2014 and 2015 police sport utility, police sedan, Explorer, Taurus, Edge, Flex and Lincoln MKT, MKS and MKX vehicles, Icom says.

Icom North America is expanding its line of propane autogas vehicle gear to include the new “Game” brand high pressure vapor injection system from Imega International USA. Imega USA will distribute and install the Game equipment through Icom’s U.S. dealer installation and service network.

The Game system will be unveiled by Icom at next week’s National Propane Gas Association meeting in Atlanta.

“We saw a need for a high performing, competitively priced propane vapor sequential injection system for certain fleet sectors and Imega has the solution,” Icom North America chairman Albert Venezio said in a release this morning. “Imega brings the highest engineering and vehicle expertise of all vapor injection system manufacturers,” he said.

‘Innovative, Intuitive Self-Calibration’

Imega Game “features an innovative, intuitive self-calibration procedure, which, along with few electric connections, makes system installation a versatile and fast process,” the announcement says.

“Proprietary electronics optimize emissions and performance via OBD protocol, closely matching the OEM engine management design, which allows us to provide fleets at different levels and sectors the largest propane vehicle platform range at an affordable cost,” Imega International USA CEO Danilo Gardi says in the release.

“We chose Imega as our vapor injection system partner for North America because their Game system is the optimum performing vapor system,” said Icom CEO Ralph Perpetuini.

Icom notes that it already leads the industry with U.S. EPA certifications of propane autogas kits covering more than 600 vehicle platforms.
