Battery School Bus Advocate to Unveil Battery Reefer Truck
With Cold Car Electric Refrigeration Unit and UQM Driveline

California’s Kings Canyon Unified School District is getting set to unveil a 100% battery electric refrigerated box truck it plans to add to its fleet of reefers this summer. The truck is a Freightliner M2 converted to battery electric operation by Electric Vehicles International. It has an electric cold box by Texas-based Cold Car.

‘America’s Only All-Electric School Bus’ to Save $10,000 a Year

California’s Motiv Power Systems is talking up the deployment of the first of four 100% battery electric school buses by the Kings Canyon Unified School District, also of California. The Ford E-450 chassis vehicle – the SST-e by New York’s Trans Tech Bus – has a Motiv ePCS drive.

Nearly $14 Million Is Available Under California Program

Nearly $14 million is available to help offset the price premium for medium- and heavy-duty hybrid, battery-electric, and hydrogen fuel cell trucks and buses under California’s Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project. HVIP is run by Calstart on behalf of CARB, the California Air Resources Board.
