Omaha’s Werner for CNG Long-Haul – 800-Mile Range!

Omaha-based Werner Enterprises is evaluating the new 11.9-liter Cummins Westport ISX12 G in two Kenworth T660 trucks – testing not only the powerful new engine but the feasibility of using compressed natural gas instead of liquefied natural gas for long-haul work.

Omaha District LNG for Clean Energy

The board of Omaha’s Metropolitan Utilities District has approved a plan to sell liquefied natural gas from a 37-year-old peak shaving plant to Clean Energy Fuels (NASDAQ:CLNE), which will use it to fuel trucks.

As part of a 15-year contract, Clean Energy will invest as much as $2 million to build a truck loading facility –a truck rack – to open next year the District’s LNG facility. “Clean Energy will be the exclusive purchaser of LNG from this facility for transportation use within a 200-mile radius,” states a District release.
