Contract for 138 Forty-Footers, Bidding to Supply 139 Sixties

New Flyer of America reports a contract award for 138 heavy-duty, 40-foot, XN40 Excelsior, compressed natural gas buses-fueled buses from the New York City Transit Authority. It’s a firm order valued at approximately $78 million.

Transit Vehicle Rebuilt as Battery-Electric Gets New York Trial

The ZEPS bus by Complete Coach Works, a 40-foot 1996 New Flyer converted to full battery electric operation, is being tested in Manhattan by MTA New York City Transit. The payoff? Potential for a quiet, full-size city bus that can work 100 miles a day burning no fuel at all.
