Options Exercised for 46 Xcelsior and 17 NABI 40-Footers
New Flyer of America said Friday that Dallas Area Rapid Transit has exercised options on 17 low-floor NABI LFW buses and 46 New Flyer Xcelsior model vehicles, all of them 40 feet in length, and all compressed natural gas-fueled.
The 17 North American Bus Industries-design vehicles are expected to be delivered in October and November, says DART maintenance VP Mike Hubbell. The 46 New Flyer Xcelsior buses are slated for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2016, he told F&F.
“These buses are part of our fleet renewal and represent our commitment to deliver the best possible customer experience for the tens of thousands of North Texans who make riding a DART bus a daily part of their lives,” DART president and executive director Gary Thomas said in a New Flyer release.
Proterra Battery Buses Coming to Dallas Too
“DART is one of the key customers that we began supplying buses to through the acquisition of NABI in 2013,” said New Flyer president and CEO Paul Soubry. “DART exercising these options demonstrates the strong relationship that we‘ve built together.”
DART currently has 459 CNG-fueled NABI buses, fueling at four different Clean Energy Fuels stations (F&F, October 14).
DART is negotiating final contracts for seven federally funded 100% battery electric 35-foot buses from Proterra too (F&F, February 9).
